During the program, Hai Phong Port provided an overview of its formation and development, operational capacity, infrastructure system, key investment projects, and the company's development orientation.

Hai Phong Port has identified several key tasks, including promoting digital transformation, green transition, smart port development, improving service quality, and gradually building a synchronized port-logistics ecosystem. Established in 1874, Hai Phong Port is currently the port with the largest cargo throughput in Northern Vietnam. The company possesses a system of equipment, infrastructure, and support services for transport, trade, and logistics activities.

Sharing experiences on green and smart ports

Representatives of Shandong Port Group shared their experience in managing and operating port systems, particularly in the areas of operational automation, digital transformation, high-tech application, and green port development.

Shandong Port Group currently operates a large-scale port and logistics ecosystem, including the Qingdao, Rizhao, Yantai, and Bohai Bay port groups. According to official information updated in May 2026, the group's system includes 19 main port areas, over 380 production berths, and more than 370 container shipping routes.

These practical experiences provide valuable references for the modernization of port operations, improving equipment efficiency, optimizing operational processes, and reducing environmental impact.

Promoting professional cooperation and human resource development

The two sides discussed the potential for strengthening cooperation in maritime transport, logistics, and port operations. Topics of interest included human resource training, expert exchanges, sharing management experience, automation, equipment investment, and technology application in port activities.

According to official sources, within the framework of the program, the Shandong Port Group delegation also conducted a field survey at Tan Vu Port Branch, the key container operation unit of Hai Phong Port. The survey helped the delegation gain practical insights into the organizational model, equipment system, and operational management at the container port.

The meeting also continued the connection foundation established between the two sides. In 2024, Qingdao Port (under SPG) and Hai Phong Port established a sister port relationship within the framework of SPG's cooperation expansion activities in Southeast Asia.
