Shandong Port Group delegation visits and works with Trungnam Group

On July 28, 2026, a delegation from Shandong Port Group (SPG) visited and worked with Trungnam Group in Vietnam. The program provided an opportunity for representatives from both sides to meet, introduce their operational capabilities, and strengthen exchanges in areas with many similarities, such as seaports, logistics, infrastructure, and industry.
The meeting contributed to creating a bridge between a major Chinese port corporation and a Vietnamese enterprise that is investing heavily in infrastructure, energy, and seaport projects.
Strengthening exchanges on seaports and logistics
Shandong Port Group is a port enterprise based in Shandong province, established in 2019, and currently owns major port groups including Qingdao Port, Rizhao Port, Yantai Port, and Bohai Bay Port. The group's operations span from port operations, shipping, and warehousing to logistics and supply chain support services.
Meanwhile, Trungnam Group has investment activities in various fields such as energy, infrastructure, and industry. One of the notable projects directly related to the seaport sector is the Ca Na General Seaport – Phase 1. According to Trungnam Group, the project covers an area of over 108 hectares, including two berths capable of receiving 70,000–100,000 DWT vessels, one 20,000 DWT berth, along with a system of warehouses and service infrastructure; the designed capacity is approximately 3.3 million tons of cargo per year.
The similarity in seaport and logistics operations provides a foundation for both sides to share experiences in organizing operations, equipment handling, supply chain optimization, and the application of technology in port management.
Opportunities for connection in infrastructure development
In addition to seaports, Trungnam Group is continuing to develop an industrial – energy – logistics ecosystem in the Ca Na area. The enterprise aims for Ca Na to be not just an independent port, but a gateway connecting seaports, LNG, industry, renewable energy, and international logistics.
In early 2026, the Trung Nam – Sideros River consortium was also selected to implement the Ca Na LNG Power Plant project with a capacity of 1,500 MW, accompanied by an LNG port and storage system with a capacity of approximately 1–1.2 million tons per year.
In this context, the experience of Shandong Port Group in operating port systems, logistics, and supply chains can provide valuable references for the development of large-scale port – industrial – energy complexes.
Towards modern and efficient port models
In recent years, Shandong Port Group has focused particularly on developing smart ports, automation, digital transformation, and solutions to improve logistics efficiency. This is also an increasingly important trend for new seaport projects in Vietnam.
Strengthening direct exchanges helps both sides have more opportunities to learn about methods of organizing port operations, loading and unloading equipment, warehouse management, cargo transportation, and connecting logistics chains.
Through working programs and professional surveys, enterprises can gradually identify suitable areas for future exchanges, not limited to port operations but extending to equipment, technology, logistics, and infrastructure development.
Expanding connections between Vietnamese and Chinese enterprises
The working session on July 28, 2026, contributed to enhancing mutual understanding between Shandong Port Group and Trungnam Group, while creating more opportunities for interaction between Vietnamese and Chinese seaport and infrastructure enterprises.
By sharing experiences and learning about each other's strengths, the program creates a favorable foundation for the parties to continue maintaining exchanges, researching suitable connection directions, and promoting practical cooperation activities in the future.
